What is Drive 4 A Cure?
Our Charity Golf Tournament was created from a group of concerned golfers whose lives have been affected by cancer, whether directly or indirectly. We recognize that cancer touches the lives of so many people in our local community. Our goal is to raise cancer awareness and money in the fight against cancer and to fund research for a cure. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease, accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths. Between 1975 to 1977 the 5-year relative survival rate for all cancers diagnosed was 49 percent. That meant 1 in every 2 people were expected to live once treated for cancer. In contrast, between 2001 to 2007 the 5-year relative survival rate rose to 67 percent. That is 2 out of every 3 people are expected to live once treated for cancer. We are making a difference.
American Cancer Society / Relay for life
With the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. The Relay For Life movement offers an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer! Drive 4 A Cure is part of the Camarillo Relay for Life.
